All has not been quiet around here, even though the blog has. After removing the trim and having it dipped & stripped, I’ve spent MANY hours filling and sanding the pieces and removing the paint from the jambs and cabinet frame. This is by far the worst part, as it’s beyond tedious, as anyone who’s done this knows. First the paint is softened with either our infrared stripper or a heat gun, depending on the piece, then the paint good is scraped off. The residue that’s left behind needs to be hit with a chemical stripper, sometimes as many as five times to get it all off.
All of this needs good weather, since we need to maintain lots of ventilation through the area. This has gotten harder and harder to do, as we’re now in mid-November. We’ll see how far we get…
